Managerial Assessment of Proficiency (MAP)

The Managerial Assessment of Proficiency (MAP), together with Managing to Excel, combines to create a Complete Management Development System. This system has five steps:

Assessment, Interpretation, Planning, Training and Reassessment.

Assessment, Interpretation and Planning (two days) MAP is the leading assessment of managerial competencies covering 12 critical areas and 10 values/traits. It is a video-driven simulation with a data base approaching 100,000 managers, supervisors and professionals that can be benchmarked by industry. It is used worldwide and available in nine languages. It is the only objective assessment of its kind on the market today.

The Assessment phase takes about five hours (day one) and results in a computer-generated profile of the participant's strengths and areas for development. A group profile is also generated for use in targeting overall training needs.

The Interpretation phase (morning of day two) takes three hours and defines the desired managerial behaviors and identifies proficiency gaps.

The Planning phase (afternoon of day two) takes three hours where participants diagnose their profiles and work on their Individual Development Plans including specific actions to be taken for training, development and future growth.

The Training phase takes up to a year as workshops are scheduled and conducted based on the collective needs of all participants. Managing to Excel contains separate half-day workshops on the twelve competencies measured in MAP. Each of the twelve modules comes with an interactive videotape, an extensive leader's guide containing lesson plans, experiential exercises, overheads and a PowerPoint presentation.

The Reassessment phase takes place after the individual completes his/her planned training and has had sufficient time to internalize the behaviors learned (four to six months after training). The reassessment takes about four hours where participants receive a "Post Training Profile", analyze the results and prepare a revised development plan for future growth.
